Simon Alcantara

Native New Yorker Simon Alcantara is a former professional classical dancer who danced soloist and principal roles in the U.S. and abroad. He is an award-winning jewelry designer who formerly designed for Oscar de la Renta, Balmain Haute Couture and J. Mendel. In addition to being honored the Rising Star Award for Fine Jewelry by Fashion Group International Inc., Alcantara was also one of nine designers chosen by a panel of fashion editors, executives and members of the CFDA and the NY Transit System to design a subway-inspired accessory for the centennial celebration of the New York Subway System.

In 2004 he was accepted into the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA).

Alcantara is continuously exploring multiple art forms, including jewelry, photography, and film. “My intention is to create something beautiful, meaningful, timeless, memorable, and powerful,” he says.
